The IML would like our members to be aware of an opportunity to obtain grant money for the purchase of life-saving Automated External Defibrillators.

Public Act 95-0721 expandes eligibility for the Heartsaver Automated External Defibrillators (AED) Fund matching grant program to other units of government. Included among these newly eligible entities are municipal recreation departments.

In addition to municipal recreation departments, the new law provides that any school, public park district, conservation district, forest preserve district, college, or university in the State of Illinois is also eligible to receive a matching grant from the Heartsaver AED Fund. Eligible entities are limited to one matching grant from the Fund. Governor Quinn has made $100,000 available for these grants. Interested municipalities are encouraged to act quickly to secure a matching grant.
